The Institute for Cognitive Therapy

Licensed by the State of Utah

The Institute for Cognitive Therapy is a private, non-profit agency that was created by Dr. Donna Castleton, LCSW, and Randy Linnell, LCSW, to help address the growing needs in Utah County for issues including substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management, and victim counseling. Our practice has grown and has continued to adjust to the needs of our community. We now also offer therapy for individuals, couples, families, the LGBTQ+ community, and religious conflicts. After Dr. Castleton’s recent retirement, Heidi Riddle, LCSW, SAP, has stepped into her place as Executive Director.

The Institute’s clinical staff are licensed, highly trained professionals who share a commitment to providing effective, accessible, and quality treatment services. We serve clients from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds. We also currently offer therapy sessions in both English and Spanish.

ICT has grants with Utah County and the State of Utah for Domestic Violence treatment for both victims and perpetrators, as well as for substance abuse treatment, for both court-ordered and volunteer clients.

Fabiola Hernandez Lucas was born in Mexico City (CDMX), Mexico. She comes from a working-class family and completed her bachelor's in Accounting and Administration at the University of Queretaro, Mexico before she emigrated from her Country. Once she settled in Utah, the majority of the time she worked in educational institutions like the SLCC and the University of Utah in different areas such as student services and as an income accountant. Her life experiences, like significant losses, the need to adapt herself to new cultures, and facing and treating her own mental health conditions made a combination of factors for her to dive into the studies of what at a young age she discovered was her passion, psychology.

Her past family, financial, and personal issues at a young age were once obstacles for her to pursue Social Sciences. However, once she was stable in life she initiated her studies at the University of Utah in 2016. Her first role in this field was as a Substance Abuse counselor and she had many other experiences while obtaining her degree. Fabiola completed her studies in the Master of Social Work in 2021 at the University of Utah. She has worked with Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence, Latin communities, and as an Epidemic and Catastrophes Social worker. During the pandemic of COVID-19, she worked doing outreach working for Utah DHHS. Currently, she works in the HMHI of the University of Utah as a Clinical Social Worker and collaborates as a therapist in the ICT Orem, Utah.

Fabiola loves visual arts, traveling, gardening, and participating in social events, and has a passion for life but what she most loves is when she can transmit this to others.
